Environment thriving under restricted human movement:

With billions of people forced to rethink a way of life due to the challenges posed by a raging pandemic, there are a number of news reports that suggest that the nature, or the environment is finally finding some time to recover. Wildlife appears to be making a comeback, tourist-free beaches have lured record numbers of rare turtles to breed; penguins are waddling through the free streets; tigers, lions, wolves, deer and bears have been spotted in the open.

Carbon emissions and pollution levels are also falling due to travel and flight restrictions, and mountain skylines and stars, once buried under thick smog have become remarkably clear.

All this information is leading people to believe that nature is thriving in a way not seen for generations and drive a serious conversation to that end, because it is common knowledge that pristine nature can create a good environment, which in-turn can help boost human immunity. Thus, forcing people to really think and talk about the conservation of environment.

How can steel be environmentally friendly?

The pandemic, in a way has raised the level of environmental consciousness among people and steered them to take measures to put minimum pressure on the environment by taking right actions. Now, one might wonder how TMT bars can be good news for the environment?

Here are some facts: TMT bars are made of steel and steel is the most recycled material on the planet. In fact, in the year 2017 the quantity of recycled steel alone was higher that all the other recyclable materials combined. Research has shown that recycling of 1 kg of steel helps in reduction of 2 kgs of greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere. Recycling steel also reduces the spread of landfill, which is one of the major concerns of environmental degradation. And if steel is recyclable, that means steel can be reprocessed, thereby saving raw materials because steel does not experience any loss in quality or strength.

Environment friendly actions in the production of steel:

By and large, the steel industry has become more environmentally conscious. For example, the water used in the steel-making process can be recycled and reused up to 99%. For a country which is reeling under the pressure of water scarcity, this is a major relief.

One of the solid wastes left behind by the steel industry is slag. Earlier this slag used to be dumped in an open site causing disastrous effects on the environment. In the recent past, that issue has been taken care of too, by way of using the slag to make fly ash bricks. With these practices, the steel industry has reduced its carbon footprint considerably.

Using steel TMT for construction makes the structure all-weather friendly

Steel is a material perfect for all weathers, it consumes less energy to heat up the house during winters. And in the summertime, steel can bring down the humidity naturally, so the home would require less power to cool. This helps in less energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint of the entire home.

Building with steel generally reduces the number of raw materials needed, and hence, the manpower, reducing the cost of construction. Overall, use of steel TMT bars also helps in faster completion of the project. Steel has changed the construction sector for better, if used correctly, it can last forever without being affected by rust, heat or other extreme climatic changes.

Steel use in construction in general, will continue to grow with its positive impact on the environment. But, while other steel manufacturers are exploring the possible avenues to become environment friendly, Sunvik with its green business model, zero solid waste and maximum power efficiency has already made a tangible contribution in that regard.

The True TMT can be a True partner to your environment friendly construction.
