The constant worry on everyone’s mind these days is how to save the earth from years of abuse- the pollutants, the effluents, the plastic waste, the landfills and have a green and healthy atmosphere for the generations to come.

We are all aware and practice reduction in the use of plastics- live plastic carry bags, plastic cutlery etc. But do we know that large industries are the biggest pollutants? Industries are the backbone of everyday living, and there should be some way of reducing and minimising the toxins produced!

With climate change threatening the globe, governments and industries are looking at sustainable ways of production to reduce carbon emissions and effluents polluting water sources.

Steel manufacturing is the 2nd largest industry in the world and, consequently, the biggest effluent discharger. Steel is used in every walk of life- from cutlery to infrastructure.

With this knowledge, the industry has decided to “GO GREEN”, that is, start producing Green Steel, which is steel manufacturing with eco-friendly industrial waste practices.

Effectively Green steel manufacture involves:

  • Using renewable energy resources is against fossil fuels. Using low-carbon energy sources such as hydrogen, coal gasification or electricity instead of the traditional carbon-intensive coal-fired plants.
  • Waste management, like converting waste into reusable products like building blocks.
  • Preserving water, harvesting and recycling it.

The Government of India and the steel industry have had a rude awakening to the fact that a few years on, our future generations may not have clean air to breathe and water to drink- the 2 most vital elements for survival.

Many Industries are going “GREEN”. Steel manufacturers are using alternate sources of renewable energy. They are converting waste into recycled products, which is a very economically viable proposition. Water is being saved, recycled and harvested.

Sunvik Steels is a steel manufacturing company which has been GREEN since its inception. We are aware of the climatic conditions as well as customer demands and satisfaction and fulfilling them in the best ways possible.
