There is a simile”…nerves of steel”, proving yet again that steel is the strongest.

Can anyone imagine going through a regular day without using a steel product? Right from the place we live in, to the utilities in the daily routine? Steel is the one thing that is EVERYWHERE

Steel is known to be the strongest alloy, which, when used in construction, can make the edifice earthquake resistant as well as resistant to weather calamities

Every construction, irrespective of size, is dependent on steel bars.

Why is it important for steel to be strong: At the outset – all buildings-commercial or housing, hospitals or universities, stations, ports and depots, bridges and flyovers all need to remain strong and unshaken for a lifetime because of the vast loads and footfalls they bear.  These constructions have to be earthquake resistant and be able to withstand natural calamities and the vagaries of weather. So how are these load-bearing structures made? With steel, of course. So it is imperative that the steel used for construction has to be the best in quality and STRENGTH

‘Strength’ is a commonly used word. It implies robustness, toughness, durability, soundness, stability resistance and much more.  The one thing which has all these adjectives is steel

What is steel? Steel is an alloy of iron and some carbon. It is the proportion and combination of the two during the manufacturing process which imparts ‘strength’ to steel

What is steel strength: is a measure of the stress that can be applied to the steel before it permanently deforms (yield strength) or breaks (tensile strength). If the applied stress is less than the yield strength, the material returns to its original shape when the stress is removed.

What is tensile strength: Tensile strength is the resistance to  enormous loads without fracturing or tearing

What is Ductability: Ductility is the ability of a material to sustain a large permanent deformation under a tensile load up to the point of fracture or the relative ability of a material to be stretched plastically at room temperature without fracturing.

What is yield strength: Yield strength is the amount of stress a piece of steel must undergo in order to deform permanently. A metal that has a high yield strength can withstand high stress without permanent deformation.

What is ductile strength? How is it different from tensile strength?: Steel yield strength is the amount of stress a piece of steel must undergo in order to permanently deform. Ductile strength is the ability to bear massive weights without deforming or fracturing

Why is steel strength important: Steel is sturdy enough to resist damage caused by natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes. Steel buildings are much more resistant to fire and termites.

How is the tensile strength of steel measured? Usually, a Universal Testing Machine is used to measure the tensile strength by placing a test piece in the jaws of the machine. The tensile machine applies stretching stress by gradually separating the jaws. The amount of stretching needed to break the test piece is then recorded, and the  measure is recorded

What can be the impurities in steelmaking: The manufacturer has to apply technology whereby impurities such as nitrogen, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur and excess carbon are obliterated Normally, steel is purified in a furnace, and the steel that emerges is rock strong

How to measure the tensile strength of steel? The tensile strength of steel is most commonly measured by placing a test piece in the jaws of a Universal Testing Machine. The tensile testing machine applies stretching stress by gradually separating the jaws. The amount of stretching needed to break the test piece is then measured and recorded.

How do Sunvik Steels TMT Bars get their Inner Strength?

Sunvik Steels has a fully Integrated Steel Plant that can manufacture up to 32 mm TMT Steel Bars conforming to IS: 1786 Fe 550 Grade. With end-to-end processing carried out at the integrated facility, Sunvik ensures its TMT bars have the distinct edge of a premier product range to provide strong and durable steel. Here’s why Sunvik Steel has the finest TMT:

WELDABILITY

Low carbon content ensures optimal strength of welded joints without requiring any additional pre or post-welding treatment.

DUCTILITY

Excellent ductility due to strict control over the chemical composition and quenching.

BENDABILITY

Superior bendability is achieved with the unique combination of a tough outer core and a softer inner core structure.

HIGH STRENGTH

Specially selected raw materials and high manganese additives give very high strength.

Sunvik Steels was Established in 2003 and is proud to be the first Integrated Steel Plant in South India.
